Notifications

I'm posting here because the "my tickets" tab is giving me an error right now.

 

I would like to request support for a notifications function in the registered user area of the directory. If a user selects certain product categories, paid for or unpaid, to "listen to" they will be notified by e-mail or sms of any items that are added or changed in those selected categories.

 

I think this can be done but can't do it myself. If there is someone who can point me in the right direction I would appreciate greatly.
